The 5 solas

The Five Solas of the Reformation are foundational truths that anchor our faith and define how we exist as creatures in relation to our Sovereign Creator.  We are saved by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone, according to Scripture alone, to the Glory of God alone.  These biblical truths, recovered in the Reformation, continue to guide Christ the Redeemer Reformed Church as we strive to glorify God in all we do.

Sola Scriptura

(Scripture Alone)
God’s Word is our ultimate authority, sufficient and trustworthy for all matters of faith and life. We submit to the Bible as the foundation of our beliefs, ensuring that everything we do aligns with His truth.

Sola Fide

(Faith Alone)
We are justified by faith alone in Christ alone. Our salvation is not based on our works but on trusting in Jesus Christ, whose righteousness is credited to us through faith.

Sola Gratia

(Grace Alone)
Salvation is a gift of God’s grace, not something we earn or deserve. It is through His unmerited favor that we are rescued from sin and brought into a relationship with Him, to the praise of His glorious grace.

Solus Christus

(Christ Alone)
Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and humanity. He alone is sufficient for our salvation, and all glory belongs to Him as the head of the church and the author of our redemption.

Soli deo gloria

(To the Glory of God Alone)
Every aspect of our lives and worship is for God’s glory. We exist to exalt Him, acknowledging that all good things come from Him and are for His praise.
